Having curly hair can be a struggle for many girls. Curly hair can get easily frizzy, some parts may be curlier than the rest, and you may end up breaking a million scrunchies and brushes just to maintain it. If you are tired of the frizz, having so many knots that they seem impossible to get rid of, or your curls looking dry and damaged, here are five helpful steps on how to style your very own curly hair.

What you will need:

  • A simple t-shirt that you don’t mind using as a towel or a microfiber towel
  • A diffuser which is a blow dryer attachment
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • A leave in hair conditioner product

Step 1: Wash your hair with a tiny bit of shampoo then rinse thoroughly. Don’t put to much shampoo on your hair because it can make it very dry and brittle. Shampooing too often or too much is getting rid of your curls natural oils that it has.

Step 2: Apply as much conditioner that you need for it to get all over your wet hair and have a wide-tooth comb to work through your strands of hair while the conditioner is still in place and once when you are done, rinse thoroughly again.

Step 3: If you don’t have a microfiber towel to use, a simple t-shirt can be used as a towel to wrap around your hair after being washed. This technique will help prevent frizz from your curls and keep them defined.

Step 4: Once your hair is damp, apply leave in conditioner and make sure to get all parts of your hair including the roots.

Step 5: Set your diffuser to medium temperature and use the diffuser to dry and scrunch up your curls. Make sure to get all parts of your hair because this will minimize the amount of frizz your hair naturally gets from being air dried. This will also help give your curls a boost so no strands will be flat.

Although curly hair is a lot to maintain, every girl should embrace their natural roots and learn to love their wavy locks. Knowing how to self-care for your luscious curls will give you the confidence you need to show them off in the best possible light!
