2021 was filled with creative new styles and reinventions of fashion trends started in the past. These included modern era mini skirts, Y2K shoulder bags, and graphic prints. With the rest of the new year ahead of us, it is only a matter of time before a resurgence of a new set of trends rises! This year’s fashion is going to be influenced by popular TV shows such as Euphoria, and of course, TikTok.  

The first trend on our list of predictions is an all denim look, also known as the Canadian Tuxedo. This look was first made popular, and is mostly associated with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s 2001 outfit. In the past year, a number of celebrities such as Emily Ratajowski and Dua Lipa have been seen in denim on denim looks, and this year we will hopefully see more! For this look, you can pair a denim jacket with a pair of jeans, or for a more modern twist, wear a denim corset with a denim skirt.  

The next item that is expected to rise in popularity is something that has already been seen on many people in the past year. Corsets are a cute way to give your outfits some shape, cinch in your waist, and they come in many different styles. This piece has been seen used in many fashion runways, with the likes of Givenchy and Balmain coming up with new ways to style this item. Corsets can be worn casually with jeans, or can even be dressed up on top of dresses.  

These past couple of months, neon accessories have been becoming more and more common. They can help add a pop of color to neutral outfits as statement pieces, or can be worn with other bright colors. Using these accessories can help you get more creative with your outfits! Along with neon accessories, statement earrings (like chandelier earrings), are expected to be used very often this year. You can pair these earrings with simple, everyday outfits in order to add a bit of flair, or with your going-out outfits to add a bit more glam.  

Catsuits have been seen on countless celebrities, like Kim Kardashian, Cardi B, and Kylie Jenner, and can be seen more and more on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. They can be expected to be seen in many different styles and different patterns, including animal prints and graphic patterns.  

Last year was the year of the shoulder bag, with everyone loving the early 2000’s style accessory. But this year, another tiny bag, the cylinder bag, will become all the rage. Designers like Emporio, Armani, and Hermes have fallen in love with its style and we can expect them to be seen in Spring 2022 runways. The unconventional shape of this accessory along with the hundreds of colors it can come in adds a fun but cute look and can spice up any of your outfits!  

Another trend expected to be seen everywhere this year is the mini skirt. Early 200’s mini skirts were all the rage last year, and this rage is expected to continue into 2022. Designers like Dior and Miu Miu have opted to use this item for a preppy and chic vibe in their 2022 outfits.  

So, this year, try to add something new to your wardrobe, and branch out of your fashion comfort zones! We cannot wait to see these styles come into fashion this year, and to see all the ways people find to style them in unique ways.
