If you have not listened to Faye Webster yet, what are you doing? Faye Webster visited New York on her 2023 tour from Oct. 22-24. She performed some of her most popular songs at the Brooklyn Steel from 8-10 p.m.
“I’ve heard of Faye Webster; I’ve listened to many of her songs. They are good,” said Ashley Gonzalez, junior.
Faye Webster’s music is mostly described as indie/alternative which happens to be an exceedingly popular genre. Faye Webster is a popular artist, especially on TikTok. Faye also has romance in some of her songs and has similarities to other artists like Laufey, who happens to be the favorite artist of Gonzalez.
“Right Side of My Neck” by Webster first became popular on TikTok and people were introduced through her music by this song. It began a TikTok trend where friends and couples post each other walking and glancing back at each other repeatedly to symbolize the love between them.
“As she played her songs, the crowd cheered and sang along. People of all ages had their phone lights out and recording. The song was described as “her and her vulnerable lyrics explore themes of longing requited affection and beautiful music to ache to’. Said by Natalia Mendez and Sara Fisher, reporters for “The Current.”
As the guitar rang, the crowd knew it was Kingston and began cheering. Faye Webster directed the mic towards the crowd to give them a chance in singing the popular lyrics “that’s what he called me’ after she sang, “he said baby.”
“The many die-hard fans lived for each moment and opportunity to sing along,’’ Melendez and Fisher reported.
“I’ve heard of Faye Webster but only on some songs, She’s really good though,’’ said Brandon Saravia, a junior. The song Kingston came out 2019 in Faye’s album “Atlanta millionaire club.” This song also became exceedingly popular through TikTok.
Faye’s set up of the concert included playing music from her close friend Lil’ Yachty as her crew prepared the lights and instruments. This was before playing her new hit single, “But Not Kiss,” released on Sept. 23, 2023.
Concerts may not be for everyone, but they are for me! If you don’t like seeing or hearing live performances, maybe listen to Faye Webster’s song “Right Side of My Neck” on any music app. She’ll make you change your mind “in a good way,” just like her song.
