As the rain poured down on the Friday of senior pep rally, it might’ve seemed like all hope was lost. Nevertheless, Brentwood was able to rise to the occasion.
Students still cheered wildly while all the sports teams entered the auditorium. It was an amazing way for our athletes to know that the school and their friends have their backs, especially before their seasons begin.
“The pep rally was different this year since it was inside but definitely an amazing experience,’’ said Kimberly Lanza, a senior.
The green machine performance at the start of the event added some fuel to the crowd. While students waited for the teams and cheerleaders to get ready, they enjoyed the upbeat music that contributed to a positive atmosphere.
The cheerleaders then hyped up the students. They performed several stunts and tricks while lifting large BHS signs.
During one portion of the event, audience members in the stands did a big wave. Cheerleaders threw candy into the crowds. When the tennis team entered, they also threw tennis balls into the audience.
“What I loved the most about the pep rally was cheering on our friends and the Green Machine was amazing,” said Jairy Ambrocio, a senior.
During the pep rally, administrators also started to announce the homecoming court and presented them to the audience. Students voted for the homecoming king, queen, duchess, duke, princess, and prince prior to the Homecoming Dance.
When the football team was called as part of the grand finale, they started chanting, waving a giant flag, and making a circle while dancing.
Although the 2023 high school pep rally was an enjoyable experience, some students still regretted the poor weather. Seniors were especially bothered since it was their last pep rally of their high school careers.
“I wish we could have done the pep rally outside with some nice weather,” said Fabian Sanchez, a senior.
However, it did prove one thing: a little rain couldn’t stop our students from celebrating!
