Is the music industry trying to brainwash us? Some people can have melodies from their favorite songs stuck in their heads all day. There must be a secret to music we do not know.
In 2020, Playboi Carti shocked everyone when he dropped a surprise rap album, “Whole Lotta Red.” The internet was introduced to a new rockstar era from Carti.
Initially, some people gave negative reviews on the album because it was nothing like the leaks people had heard over the internet. But weeks later, Carti’s album started trending everywhere and became one of the most overplayed albums on streaming platforms. Everyone was listening to Carti.
After releasing his album “Whole Lotta Red,” we did not hear from Carti for four years. Still, his music remained popular on every popular internet platform, like Instagram, Tikok, Twitter, and even Youtube. The album was so popular it hit number one when it debuted on the billboard charts.
Two years later, Carti posted a snippet of his music on Instagram, which was deleted quickly, and it sounded like nothing the fans had ever heard. Some people would question if that was him or the artist Future – everyone was clueless and had no answer.
“He dropped music recently and it’s gone completely viral in such a short time,” said Josseline Canales, Central Islip Student Junior. “It shows how he can really bring people together, especially because he hasn’t released anything in years. He popped out with a whole different style, whole different persona. It’s unique.”
On July 28, 2023, Travis Scott dropped a song named “Fein” from his upcoming project, “Utopia.” Playboi Carti was featured on the track, but once they heard a deep-toned voice, they were questioning if it was really him. It was later confirmed to be Carti in the song.
Finally, on Dec. 13, 2023, Playboi Carti posted a video on his Instagram of a bald man shouting, known as Blackhaine. His words were “NEW MUSIC TONIGHT.” At 9 p.m., Playboi Carti released a song named “2024.”
“Playboi Carti keeps putting music out and always changing it up, something not many rappers do nowadays,” said Giovanie Flores, a Brentwood junior.
After his song “2024” was released, it was the number one trending video on YouTube within one hour. The song gained 34 million views.
Once again, fans were presented with a fellow bald man shouting the phrase “NEW MUSIC TONIGHT.” Then, on Dec. 20, 2023, Carti released “HOOD BY AIR.” He followed up a month later with two new songs.
The first, named “Backr00ms,” featured Travis Scott. He finally released “Evil Jordan” on Jan. 16, 2023, and we have not heard from him since. Carti has still not released the album fully, but fans are hoping he keeps his promises and releases more music soon.
Ye formally known as “Kanye West” released his album “Vultures 1” on Feb. 10 of this year. His most popular song, “Carnival,” featuring Carti, has reached top 3 on the billboard hot 100. Do you think this will give Carti the motivation to finally release his album?
