You might have noticed that many women and children have been drinking a lot more water lately. We think we know the reason why.
The Stanley Cup craze first began when a TikToker named Danielle’s car caught on fire. According to her, the Stanley Cup survived the car fire in perfect condition and with ice water still inside. While no one has proved whether or not the TikTok video is true, the Stanley Cup website says the Tumbler is fire resistant and indestructible, and also claims that icy water can last up to 12 hours.
Because everyone has their own style, the Stanley company allows you to design our own cups just the way you like them. When customers visit the Stanley website, there is a tab with the word “customize” to allow each person to create their own Stanley Cup. They also have a variety of colors (up to 20!) that customers can pick from.
“I do think it won’t make a difference in my life. But in other people’s lives, it might, because they like having cold water all day long,” said Geanella Fernandez, freshman.
Many people say that Stanley Cups are expensive as far as water bottles go. They range in price from $20 to $90. They could be more dependent on if you want to customize it. The lowest price Stanley Cup is $20 for the Quencher H2.0 Travel Tumbler 14 Oz, and customers can pick from 12 colors.
“I don’t think it should be worth that much money and I wouldn’t use it,” said Kimberly Lanza, a senior.
We knew the cups had gone truly viral when people started sleeping outside of Target at 3 a.m. just to be the first people to get a Stanley Cup. They rose further in popularity when the Valentine’s/ Starbucks collaboration Stanley Cups came out.
One major pro of the Stanley Cup is that the water stays ice cold for a long time. And apparently, the cups can also be used to hold a pint of Ben and Jerry ice cream! Some cons about the Stanley Cups are the Quencher tumbler is not spill proof, it is a bit expensive, and it may contain lead.
“I think the Stanley Cup is over hyped too much. I wouldn’t buy it in my preference, but they are pretty,” said Jairy Ambrocio, a senior.
If you are not a Stanley Cup person, you can try the WINSA Glass Tumbler. It is Stanley’s #1 competitor, and it is much cheaper. It is a better alternative to plastic since Stanley Cups may contain lead inside them, which can also leave an unpleasant aftertaste.
