“Where’d all the time go it’s starting to flyyyyy.” These are lyrics from the famous song made in the 2000’s. This song plays in my head as I imagine walking through the stage and seeing all the graduates sitting down, and my parents cheer me on.
I can’t help but think that time is precious, and as I receive my diploma, I realize that this is it, this is the moment that I’ve worked for starting at 5 years old.
Even though high school wasn’t the ideal picture they portrayed in movies, it taught me a lot of values and aspects of myself that I didn’t know I had. Some of these things influenced what is to be my future career.
And now that I’m almost finished with this, I do have to say thank you to my parents – the people who have raised me to be the person I am today. I have learned from my father that dedication and hard work are the only things that matter. And my mother, the person that gave me life, has taught me great patience and responsibility.
Some classes, like my Human Anatomy and Physiology class even influenced me to follow a career in a certain field. I learned a great amount of knowledge in that class and had a lot of fun learning it. Because of this inspiration I now have a better idea on what to pursue after graduation.
To anyone reading this, just know that if you want something, then you must put in the hard work, and mostly dedicate yourself to finishing what you started. Sure, the results won’t show right away, but good things take time. It gets better.
Senior year has been bittersweet, but mostly bitter. It feels very nerve-wracking to think that you’ve done this for your whole life and now you’re on your own. Nobody is going to hold your hand, and only you can count on yourself. But I know better, and I know that my future self depends on me to lead the path all the way to success.
