It doesn’t have to be Halloween to crave some bloody action with a side of screams. The spooky season may have ended, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t accompany it with you in the other holiday seasons. No matter how loving and lighthearted the time may be, there’s always room for a horror movie that’ll make you throw your popcorn in the air.
#1: “Terrifier 3” (2024)
“Terrifier 3” is an insane squeal that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. The movie follows Art the clown, who we see go on a festive, gory killing spree dressed as Santa Claus.
With each murder the remorseless clown commits, his smile grows wider. Sienna and her brother, Jonathan, return in the 3rd movie, both targeted by Art the clown and his accomplice, Vicky.
Personal rating: 4.5/5
Terrifier 3 is the type of movie you would want to look away from but physically, you simply can’t. Every murder scene is beyond shocking, more so when Art laughs through every second.
#2: “Thanksgiving” (2023)
Feeling grateful and hungry? Well, I am positive Eli Roth will take away your appetite with his 2023 slasher film. This movie features a very disturbing, angry pilgrim who is seeking revenge on a community that, in his eyes, is full of greed.
We see lives lost and absolute loss of control in the first 10 minutes during a Black Friday sale, and everything is being taped and shown on social media. Because of that, this killer isn’t afraid to broadcast his murders either.
Personal Rating: 5/5
Not only does this movie have traumatizing, worth-watching murder scenes but the most shocking plot twist. This film perfectly demonstrates how Gen Z would act in situations like this and the famous TikTok star, Addison Rae, being in the cast in this film unravels that.
#3: “Uncle Sam” (1996)
A fallen solider rise from the dead when a couple of teenage kids are fooling around and burn the American flag. Though he served his time, gave his life to America, he believes the reason he is dead is because the American people failed him. Thus, his killing spree on innocent American people.
Personal rating: 3.5/5
This film may not be the scariest or goriest, but it surely packs the Halloween vibes and brings it to the 4th of July, it’s a movie worth watching.
#4: “My Bloody Valentine” (1981)
In the opening scene, we’re introduced to the killer, who almost gets caught by the police. Afterward, he leaves town and disappears for an entire decade, becoming a myth. He eventually returns, but the story doesn’t quite add up.
Personal rating: 5/5
Telling the viewers who the murderer is from the start definitely throws them off and doesn’t prepare them for the plot twist, instead leaving everyone guessing who it could be.
If you’re not the biggest fan of gorey horror films but still want to scream using both your lungs then I recommend “Smile,” “Lights Out” and “Host.” All three are well-directed jump scare movies.
