She left

I’ll never forget that day

The last day I ever got to hear her voice

The last time I saw that smile

The last hug

The last everything

The last day I had light in my life

But

Before she left she had on request

“I want you to stay strong, and for this is not goodbye, it is a see you soon”

So every day I try

I pick my head up

Do what I have to do

I try to stay strong

I try for her

For it was never a goodbye

One day she’ll return

And I’ll be there for when she does
