Hopeless

Hope can drive people forward.
It brings a sense of faith into their lives.
By definition, hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen;
it is a feeling of trust.
It is a word so simple and yet with so many complexities into it.

A word meant to save one’s life, prevent it from insanity.
But to her, it was imaginary-
A false reality she held so dear in her heart

that was twisted in the corners of her mind.
She was a hypocrite maybe.
An impostor in her own mind
filled with so many excuses,
empty expectations that
will never be earned or fulfilled.
How much hypocrisy can one word hold
to make the strongest crumple
beneath the pressure of one’s false faith?
