Squishmallows are cuddly stuffed animals with very vibrant colors and names. However, they aren’t just a bedroom decoration. These cute plushies help people sleep and they even serve as an emotional outlet to some. 

These beloved stuffed animals have gained most of their popularity through social media outlets. TikTok is the biggest social media platform that has aided this product into becoming popular especially because TikTok is a platform that people spend a lot of time on and it’s also a diverse group of people that use this social media platform. This allows many products like Squshmallows to gain popularity through this platform.  

“One of the definite must-have Squishmallows is definitely the pink cow. Also the brown cow and hello kitty Squishmallows that have recently gone viral on TikTok,” said Diana Alvaranga, a senior. 

Many Squishmallow fanatics have become serious collectors. These fanatics and collectors have a very wide age range, from young children to teens and even adults.

The fame and love for Squishmallows has risen so high that some people are even reselling Squishmallows at steep prices. This reselling world has caused a lot of commotion to Squishmallow fanatics and collectors because prices are now unaffordable to many.  

“I tried to buy my dog a Squishmallow pet bed and when I looked them up they were reselling for $300 dollars when the retail price was drastically lower…it’s just honestly upsetting because then they aren’t accessible to everyone,” said Marybeth Ponce, a senior.  

“I think reselling is pretty unfair mot only in the squish community, but in any collectibles. I do not think it is fair to those who genuinely use them as comfort. It also is an issue to children who happen to enjoy Squishmallows, since many parents can’t afford a 50-100 dollar stuffed animal,” said Anthalia Santillana, a senior.

 Squishmallows can be found in stores like Costco, CVS, Walgreens, in mall kiosks, Target, Walmart and in toy stores. Another good way to obtain Squshmallows would be by trading or going to Squishmallow fairs. There’s something for everyone; Squishmallows even have a Hello kitty collection, Disney collection, and many other varieties. 

“I have traded with people before,” said Santillana.”It’s quite exciting to see what everyone enjoys, it’s also an easy way to obtain the Squish you want.”
