It’s an annual tradition for Brentwood High School to have its homecoming after a week of fun events that celebrate school spirit. On Friday, Oct. 13, the Homecoming Dance was held in the Sonderling cafeteria. Students were able to purchase tickets for 5 dollars.
Despite some complaints that the homecoming dance was hot and crowded, students still enjoyed their evening.
“I really enjoyed how everyone got together and had a great time! I saw smiles, warm hugs, and inclusivity,” Kevin Nunez said.
“Some pros about homecoming are that people were dancing and not just standing there lost if friends weren’t,” Vasquez said.
The music selection included popular Latino songs and as well as drill. Latino music included dembow and some bachata, while drill music included hip hop and trap music. The reviews of the music selection were mixed.
“The music, for the most part, was not the best selection,” Nunez said.
“I feel that they had good selection of music,” said Ava Singleton, a 10th grader.
Some people didn’t agree with homecoming prices. Since food or drinks weren’t included, students were upset that they had not planned to bring money when they assumed snacks would be provided. For others, the price was not an issue.
“The music and decorating should be a little improved for next year, we shouldn’t be paying for drinks and food. Since we are already paid to get in,” Singleton said.
“I went to homecoming with my friend Jasleen, since we were both helping at the Tri-M stand, so we didn’t [have to] pay,” Nunez said.
The homecoming dance took place from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Some students felt that the timing of the event was a bit short.
“Next year’s homecoming…should end a little later, like around 10:30,” Vasquez said.
“A con is it ended kind of early for it to be a Friday night considering we didn’t have school the next day,” Vasquez said. Students will be able to celebrate their school spirit once again.
