Without Her

Without Her

Tatyana Palomino, Staff Writer

She smiles so brightly when I watch her write

The world she creates is vivid and warm

I want to stay here and remain by her side

I don’t ever want to leave because it’s my home

I’ve watched her grow into who she is today

And how she encountered so many things

I knew that my world was in the palm of her hand

I didn’t understand the strange world she lived in

One day the sky above me turned dark and gray

The sudden abandonment left me frightened

I grew pensive and soon came to realize it was May

Right there I remembered that she had exams

Even though I am not alive, I am real enough to her

The darkness I endured that day would continue to come
