Cosmos (Based on a Memory)
May 31, 2018
In the vastness of space and immensity of time,
we are beneficiaries of a chance that could’ve been so glorious and beautiful.
Given a chance, we got to decide what to do with it.
I didn’t want it to be an ephemeral journey, I wanted it to matter.
I wanted to laze in the warmth of midday, hearing the birds chirping
And enjoying each other’s company.
I wanted to go on a picnic with you and eat that “silly” meal you claim we won’t remember
We could have looked back at these moments and appreciated how wild, vivid, and precious every moment spent together was.
We saw each other, the way I saw you, you saw me,
For a brief lapse of time in this endless echoing that we call the “cosmos.”
