Feminist Club: We Rise by Lifting Others

Justin Mayo, Staff Writer

Join the feminist club as it discusses major issues and debate topics that impact our society. The club’s main focus is to empower women, men, and those of different backgrounds or religious beliefs. This club stresses the importance of political, social, economic, and personal equality of the sexes. This club DOES NOT intend to preach the falsehood of feminism, which is female dominance in society. Rather, the club seeks to uplift women and encourage them to seek equal rights amongst a male dominant society.

Upcoming events include Safe Halloween, which takes place on October 25th from 6-7:30 p.m. The club members will setup coloring tables for children and hand out goodie bags while dressed in spooky Halloween attire.

The Feminist Club is also planning a movie night after school, where we will show critically-acclaimed films that revolve around women empowerment. Snacks and other refreshments will be sold before the movie starts at around 6:00 PM. Movie Night is scheduled to debut sometime in November with the premiere of Hidden Figures. Movie start time is scheduled for 7 PM and will be held in Sonderling Senior Cafeteria.

More information on Safe Halloween and Movie Night is to be announced in the near future. Feminist Club meets up EVERY TUESDAY from 2:00-3:00 PM in room 2509. Please come and be a part of this progressive movement to end the hinderance placed on those who suffer at the hands of the patriarchy, bigotry, and hate! FEMINISM IS FOR EVERYBODY!
