Interact Club Brings Christmas to the Ross Nursing Home

Under the direction of Mrs. Bowden, Mrs. Melendez-Leon and the officers, the Interact Club collected gift donations of games, socks, and body washes for the residents at the Ross Nursing Home on Suffolk Avenue. In addition to these charitable and wholesome donations, members of the Interact Club visited the nursing home after school on Monday, December 17, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Mrs. Melendez and the Interact members distributed the gift donations that they had collected before singing Christmas carols to the residents. The song selections ranged from the Twelve Days of Christmas to Feliz Navidad and Jingle Bell Rock. A few of the residents sang along or clapped, engulfing themselves in the Christmas spirit. The festivities didn’t end there. The club members continued by hosting a lighthearted game of Bingo, in which they talked to the residents as they played. Winners received prizes from the leftover donations and since it was a “fill up the board” Bingo game, many of the residents received multiple prizes. These two rewarding hours of being at the home has inspired many students to continue going back.
