Life

Samantha Barbera

I look back on my life and I ask, who the hell was I?

I look forward in my life and I ask, who the hell will I be?

I look now in my life and I ask, who the hell am I?

Will I ever know…?

Probably not

But that’s the beauty of it

I am a mystery left to be unsolved

I am not just one thing in life

I am millions of parts

Millions of me

And I’m not just featured in my life

Oh, no. That is where you are wrong

For you see, I am in many lives

I have influenced many people

Many moments

Many lives

Sometimes I have made them better

Other times I have ruined them

But the thing about life is

It is made up of moments

And it depends on how you look at your moments

To determine how you look at your life

Because they are your life

You may have more bad moments than good

And overall you may think your life sucked

But those few good moments

May have caused you to be grateful that you

Had any moments at all

In my life so far I have had both

Sometimes I focus on the bad ones more than the good

Other times good over bad

Or maybe I look at all my moments

And I wonder, why those moments exist

Were they really bad?

Were they actually good?

Were they anything at all?

Will I ever know…?

Probably not

But that’s the beauty of it

Life is a mystery left to be unsolved

Life is not just one thing

It consists of millions of parts

Millions of lives

And there is not just one life

Oh, no. That is where you are wrong

For you see, life is in me

I look back on myself and answer I was life

I look forward in myself and I answer I will be life

I look now in myself and I answer I am life
