After retiring as Superintendent of Brentwood School District, Mr. Loeschner is making a surprising return to Brentwood High School – this time as a math teacher.
Mr. Loeschner will be circling back to his original position. He’ll be teaching five sections of geometry at Brentwood High School once again.
“I’m feeling pretty confident about getting back into teaching,” said Mr. Loeschner. “I mean, how tough can it be?”
Mr. Loeschner decided to return to teaching because of an epic decline in students’ math grades. He believes he can help the student body excel in geometry once again. He thinks he can help them improve due to his inexplicable love of numbers that most people do not share.
Starting on April 1, Mr. Loeschner is set to share a classroom with Mr. Function. Rumor has it that they used to attend high school together and they were academic frenemies. The fact that Mr. Loeschner held the top job in the district only adds fuel to the fire.
“I bet he missed being the smartest person in the room,” said Mr. Function, geometry teacher.
It seems like their competitive streak hasn’t diminished over the years. Now they’ll have the chance to reignite their mathematical rivalry in front of a new generation of students.
Some students believe Mr. Loeschner’s return stems from the fact that his retirement money wasn’t enough for him. Others are questioning if Mr. Loeschner’s sanity is completely gone.
“It’s like going from VIP status to just another face in the crowd,” said Cal Culator. “I can’t help but wonder if his ego is going to take a hit.”
“Guess we’ll have to wait and see if he’s still got it or if he’s going to hide behind the chalkboard,” said Howie Doohan.
Staff members feel uneasy about Loeschner’s teaching return. While they appreciate his sense of humor and energy he brings to the school, there is a lingering sense of discomfort about the way he is dominating the spotlight. They worry that his larger-than-life personality might overshadow the contributions of other staff members and disrupt the balance of the school community.
“I’m really curious if Mr. Loeschner’s going to waltz back in here, acting like he’s still running the whole show, or if he’ll fit in with us teachers,” said Mrs. Metric, calculus teacher.
Mr. Loeschner’s return has sent shockwaves through more than just the halls of high school. Parents also have varying opinions about the former superintendent’s impulsive decision.
The big question on everyone’s mind is: will he rise to the occasion, or will he leave us scratching our heads and wondering where the solution failed? It’s like trying to solve a math problem with a broken calculator, the answers might be un-predictable. But one thing is for sure: Mr. Loeschner is in the equation.
