Her queer songs and amazing performances have given her the name “the Midwest princess” and her outgoing personality has inspired others to be their true selves. Many of her fans have sung their hearts out at her concerts, but the real question is: will she win her first and multiple GRAMMYs this year?
Chappell Roan was nominated for six GRAMMYs: Record of the Year for “Good Luck, Babe!,” Album of the year for “The Rise and Fall of Midwest Princess,” Song of the Year for ‘Good Luck, Babe!,” Best New Artist for “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” Best Pop Solo Performance for “Good Luck, Babe!,” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.”
“My favorite songs by her are ‘Pink Pony Club’ and ‘School Night,’” said Ms. Orechovsky, English teacher.
Chappell Roan has been making music since she was seventeen. The young artist started posting videos of herself singing on YouTube. She started singing at 17 she uploaded videos of herself singing songs that she wrote herself songs she wrote on YouTube and soon was discovered by Atlantic Records. By the time she was in her senior year of high school, she was already signed to the record label.
The Midwest princess has received nonstop criticism from some because of an incident that happened at the MTV VMAs 2024 Red Carpet. A photographer was heard shouting an expletive towards Chappell Roan and she responded in kind. Roan demonstrated that she is only human, and that she will not allow anyone to disrespect her, no matter how famous they are.
Chappell Roan has had many ups and downs in her career from making videos on YouTube of herself singing to sharing a producer title with Olivia Rodrigo.
Chappell Roan is not ecstatic at the thought of receiving a GRAMMY. She sees no point in having a GRAMMY but she has stated that her mother would love to go to the awards show. Instead, she sees a long-lasting career as the true trophy
“She is an amazing singer. Why wouldn’t she want a GRAMMY? Her music brings others joy and inspires women and men as well,” said Melvin Chicas, a junior.
Chappell Roan gets her taste in fashion from drag queens. She wears heavy makeup with bold colors a makeup that you would usually see in costume parties her outfits are also one of a kind each outfit fixing perfectly with the theme of each of her concerts.
“She will become more famous because she puts herself out there a lot,” said Ms. Orechovsky.
Does the Midwest Princess deserve these six GRAMMYs for her amazing performances and voice? Or is she not ready for that type of fame?
