Apple’s New Emotional Support Siri is here to help teens survive the most urgent question of the day: should you text your crush back, or is that too desperate?
Teenagers who find it hard to function without their cell phones have a new ally. Apple has announced a new Emotional Support Siri that came out with the new IOS 19 update on September 16, 2027, a new feature designed to provide more than just reminders and alarms, this new Siri version promises to offer empathy, emotional support and soothing advice to teens feeling overwhelmed by the pressure of life.
Apple’s new Siri feature is designed to offer that shoulder to cry on when your dasher is taking forever with your food, giving you emotional support using AI to provide those comforting conversations. It functions as a virtual assistant that listens to you yap about life or gives you harsh feedback.
To activate this feature, you must go to the Siri section in your settings and turn on the Emotional support feature. This function is free for teens since Apple knows how lazy they are to work so they’re not expected to pay but on the other hand adults must pay $5 a month to access this Siri mode.
This idea had come to mind by one of Apples employee named John Giannandrea. John has a daughter named Stephenie Jobs who is 13 and is starting to experience life as a teenage girl. He was so fed up with all her complaining about everything going downhill in her life.
“Ugh, why is my life so stressful? My mom told me to go clean something. Doesn’t she know I’m busy on the phone right now?” said Stephenie Jobs.
John tried helping but nothing was working because she would just stay glued to her phone and not talk to anyone, not even the therapist, so he pitched the idea to Apple, and they followed through with it.
“This new Siri just blew my head off, after testing it out it didn’t feel like I was talking to a programmed robot…thank God,” said another student.
With this new Siri being a fan favorite there have been both good and bad reviews. Apples smart tactics to attract teens has been through the roof because 85% of the users using this new Siri has been teens under the age of 17 according to the Apple website.
Teens love this new feature because it doesn’t feel like you’re texting a teacher but more like someone your age you can relate to.
“I asked emo Siri for advice on what to do if you ever need help on how to manage school stress she said to take a day off. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do every day!” Stephenie Jobs said.
The bad reviews have been concerning people saying the new Siri has been giving their child bad advice and making them do things going against what they believe in like making sure their child has a good education and isn’t missing any school days. Apple has spoken out about this issue and stated that Siri is programmed only to help teens strive and should be watching over what their teens write to Siri.
Emotional support Siri became such a hit that Apple has decided to announce an updated version of Siri that includes bug fixes and a new feature where Siri can sense when you need help.
